Boating on the Norfolk Broads

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

The sun shone on Saturday the 4th July, the swans gracefully floating, blissfully unaware of the people buzzing around the Wroxham Broads on this warm and dry day.  The warm rays in sunny old Norwich added to the nautical excitement as we gathered to board the boats destined for a boating outreach to remember.

Rendezvous at 2.30pm, Pastor Chris, Bryan, and Wayne at the helm, organizing the crew of 10 Revival members and 8 local Norfolk folk, a young couple with a baby and a family of 5 who accepted Bryan’s invitation to spend an afternoon on the Norfolk Broads.

After a cup of coffee or tea, a cold drink and a few chippies, thirsts were quenched and bellies topped up, the 3 boats were launched at 3.25pm. Theo and his crew, on board the fastest boat set off in high spirits, Wayne with the camera lens pointed and finger clicking.  All boats navigated their way successfully dodging boats and fishing lines.

There was a lot of skulduggery going on in the 3rd boat, Vikings and pirates to boot.  Motoring on, sharing testimonies, talking about the power of God while taking time out from the fast pace of life proved a good medicine for all.  But wait! A detour – leading to a boat vendor selling ice creams – a relief for those with that sweet tendency.

We had fun, we spoke about God, sharing out testimonies with the new folk that were there. We enjoyed the scenery and best of all this great outreach has opened doors to follow up some new people, who showed interest in considering a life in Christ. A special thanks to pastor Chris and the folk who made the effort coming up from London to support the Lords work here in Norwich.

If it’s anything like the skulduggery with the pedal boats in Italy at camp, I’m suprised you all arrived back at dock safely :)
